Polland trust tree planting scheme

November 24, 2011

Over the past few days Treeline has been running a tree planting programme together with the Sydney Michael Poland Trust in Brockham. Orignally Treeline and the Trust put a proposal together for a grant from the Big Tree Planting Scheme which was refused as it was considered that the area by the river was not used enough by the pubic to justify any funding, although this area does have very high amenity value for the residents of Brockham. Thankfully, the Trust together with Treeline decided to proceed with the scheme without any funding from the Government and with the help of the pupils from Brockham school, the Brockham Scouts, the Young Farmers and several others we have managed to plant in excess of 250 trees including Field Maple, Hazel, Prunus, Hornbeam, Sweet Chestnut, Holly, Alder and Oak.  A big thank you to everybody who was involved in the project. This will go a long way to increasing the tree stock in this area for future generations to enjoy.
